Cricketer Krunal Pandya Arrested at Mumbai Airport by DRI

The SUV Krunal Pandya was detained at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for allegedly possessing undisclosed and excess gold and other valuables.

Krunal (29), who plays for the Mumbai Indians, who won the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, arrived here from the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

“The DRI has asked him to pay the fine, to which he agreed and allowed it to proceed. He has also apologized and agreed to pay the fine, “informed sources said.

He wore an excess of gold and also luxury items such as expensive wristwatches and wallets. However, there was no independent confirmation and DRI could not be reached for comment.

According to the rules, male passengers traveling to India from Dubai can carry as little as 20 grams of gold on themselves. Gold should not cost more than Rs 50,000 as duty free.

During the fifth victory of the Mumbai Indians tournament, Krunal, an all-rounder who hits with his left hand and throws slow orthodox bowls with his left arm, had collected 6 wickets and made 109 runs in 12 innings. Although the performance hadn’t been that impressive, he fired the winning shot against Delhi Capitals.
