Digital life certificate: Government launches home delivery service for the presentation of digital life certificates through postman | India Business News


NEW DELHI: In great relief to retirees, the government on Thursday launched the home service for the presentation of digital life certificate (DLC) via the postman. This facility will allow pensioners to present their life certificates from the comfort of their home.
“India Post Payments Bank, Post Office IPPB and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have successfully launched the Department of Pensioners’ Pensions and Welfare (DoPPW) Initiative – Home Delivery Service for the Filing of digital life certificate through the postman, “said the Ministry of Personnel, Public Torts and Pensions in an official statement.
In order to make this facility available nationwide, DoPPW connected the Post Payments Bank of India (IPPB) and used its huge network of postmen and gramin dak sevaks in the provision of home services to retirees for the digital presentation of life certificates. This facility will be in addition to other facilities such as withdrawing money from a bank account, etc., while sitting at home.
According to the IIPB website, the home application (DSB) is currently available only to pensioner IPPB clients and will shortly be enabled for non-IPPB clients. However, if any pensioner is using the service beyond the geographic location established by the bank, the DSB charge may also apply according to the bank’s policy.
Here are the steps to send DLC via postmen:
* Download the Postinfo app from the Google Play store
* Open the app and go to ‘service request’
* Submit your name, address, PIN code and mobile phone number
* Select the IPPB service type and click Jeevan praman (digital life certificate) generation

* After OTP confirmation, the DLC request will be sent to the nearest post office based on the pin code provided by you.
* A postman or gramin dak sevak You will be assigned to collect the certificate from your address within 48 hours, at a convenient time.
* When the postman visits your home, have your Aadhaar number, PPO number, and details of the pension disbursing agency ready.
* The postman will fill in all the information and scan the pensioner’s fingerprint through his device to generate a life certificate digitally.
* Pay the charges to the postman if a successful DLC is generated
* The DLC will be automatically sent to the bank that pays the pensions and the pensioner will not have to visit it.
* The bank will confirm the acceptance of DLC via SMS within T + 2 days on the mobile phone number linked to your pension account.
The ability to submit a life certificate online via Jeevan Pramaan Portal It was launched by the Honorable Prime Minister in November 2014 with the aim of providing a convenient and transparent facility for pensioners for the presentation of the Life Certificate.
In September, the government had relaxed the schedule for DLC submission from November 1 to December 31 of this year due to difficulties faced by pensioners in submitting the life certificate in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
