Police assault case: bail hearing prior to Arnab Goswami's arrest postponed until November 23

Mumbai police file case against Arnab Goswami and his wife for allegedly assaulting a policewoman

Bombay:

A court of sessions in Mumbai postponed until November 23 the hearing on the pre-arrest bail statement of Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and his wife in a case registered against them by the Mumbai police for allegedly assaulting a policewoman.

His lawyer Shyam Kalyankar said the guilty plea could not be heard on Thursday because the judge did not preside.

“Arnab Goswami and his wife’s advance bail statement was simply postponed until November 23,” he said.

“We are not seeking any provisional protection against arrest today as we are awaiting the detailed order from the Supreme Court (passed Wednesday granting Bail to Arnab Goswami in another matter),” Kalyankar said.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted Arnab Goswami provisional bail in a case of alleged “instigation to suicide” of interior designer Anvay Naik in 2018.

Arnab Goswami, who was arrested on November 4, was released from Taloja Prison in Navi Mumbai last night.
