Hyundai Grand i10 Nios gets 2 stars in NCAP global crash test

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios competes with such models as the Ford Figo, Tata Tiago, and Maruti Suzuki Swift in India, and is currently priced from Rs 5.12 lakh to Rs 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

In its latest round of testing under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign, Global NCAP has crash tested some cars sold in the Indian market, and one of these cars is the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, which was launched in the country last year as a replacement for the Grand i10.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios scored 2 stars for the adult occupant protection test and 2 stars for the child occupant protection. Out of 17 possible points, the Grand i10 Nios secured 7.05 in Adult Occupant Protection, while Child Occupant Protection is rated 15, out of a maximum of 49. It should be noted that the Forward Scrolling Deformable Barrier Test was performed at a speed of 64 km / h.

The car used by Global NCAP for this test appears to be the Sportz variant of the Grand i10 Nios, which comes equipped with a range of safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, emergency stop signal, and a reverse parking camera too.

Other features offered with the hatch include headlights and fog lights, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, automatic climate control, rear air vents, keyless entry, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 5.2-inch digital speedometer, power-adjustable and retractable exterior mirrors, iBlue smartphone remote app, and a cooled glove compartment.

Hyundai currently offers the Grand i10 Nios with two gasoline powertrains, including a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated unit that puts out 83 hp and 114 Nm, as well as a 1.0-liter TGDi turbo petrol engine that generates 100 power. CV and a torque of 172 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, while the 1.2-liter gasoline engine can also be had with an AMT.

In addition, the car can also be had with a 1.2-liter oil burner that produces 75 hp of maximum power and 190 Nm of maximum torque, and can be obtained with a 5-speed MT or an optional AMT. Hyundai currently retails the Grand i10 Nios between Rs 5.12 – 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
