If Nitish Kumar becomes Senior Minister, the credit goes to us: Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena claimed that in case Nitish Kumar were to become prime minister again, the credit would go to Sena.

Bombay:

Praising RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for putting up an “energetic fight” in the Bihar Assembly polls, Shiv Sena today criticized the BJP saying that if Nitish Kumar retains the post of Chief Minister despite the fact that the JD ( U) wins fewer seats, credit should go to Shiv Sena.

He said that the BJP had promised that Nitish Kumar would be Bihar’s next Chief Minister even if his party gets fewer seats.

The BJP had made a similar promise to Shiv Sena during the 2019 Maharashra Assembly elections, but as that word was not kept, it led to political drama in the state, the party led by Uddhav Thackeray claimed.

An editorial in Shiv Sena’s spokesperson ‘Saamana’ said that JD (U) failed to win even 50 seats in the Bihar elections, while the BJP won more than 70 seats.

“BJP leader Amit Shah had announced that Nitish Kumar would become prime minister even if his party won fewer seats. But the Shiv Sena received a similar guarantee during the 2019 Assembly elections in Maharashtra, which was not honored and the state witnessed a political ‘Mahabharat’, “he said.

“If Nitish Kumar becomes prime minister despite winning fewer seats, his credit should go to Shiv Sena,” he added.

The Shiv Sena and the BJP had contested the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections together, but the alliance fell apart following the results following differences over sharing the position of Chief Minister.

The Shiv Sena, which won 56 seats, had claimed that the two parties had reached that understanding before the elections, a claim denied by the BJP. The Sena then joined the NCP and Congress to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (MVA) in the state.

The ruling party in Maharashtra praised RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who was Mahagathbandhan’s top ministerial candidate, for putting up a formidable fight in Bihar.

Bihar has seen the rise of the Tejashwi era. He fought alone against the people in power. It would be an injustice for Tejashwi to say that Narendra Modi’s charism worked in Bihar. The elections, which initially seemed one-sided, turned into a close contest because of Tejashwi, “he said.

The poor performance of Congress hurt Tejashwi Yadav’s chances, he added.

“Tejashwi has not lost. Simply losing an election does not mean defeat. Their fight was a great fight, not only in the family, but also against the powerful in Patna and Delhi.

“Narendra Modi called it” the yuvraj of the jungle raj, “while Nitish Kumar made an emotional appeal to voters saying it was his last election. But Tejashwi focused on the issues of development, employment, health, education in the electoral campaign, “said Sena. .

“The Bihar elections gave a new Tejashwi (bright) face to national politics. It needs to be congratulated,” the editorial said.

A stellar performance by the BJP has enabled the ruling NDA to obtain a simple majority in the Bihar assembly, according to the final results announced this morning.
