Digvijaya Singh on the performance of the Congress in Gwalior-Chambal Bypolls

MP Rajya Sabha Digvijaya Singh, who questioned the functioning of the EVM after a shocking defeat of Congress in the Madhya Pradesh by-elections on Tuesday, expressed new hope about the party’s performance in the Gwalior-Chambal region despite the departure from Jyotiraditya Scindia.

“The results have not gone well for us and we must evaluate the reasons. We won seven of the 16 seats in the Gwalior-Chambal region. People thought that after Scindia’s departure, Congress would be destroyed, but a new party has risen up, ”Singh said.

Accepting defeat for Congress in Malwa, Nimar and Bundelkhand, Singh said he was relieved that Congress was fighting with a united front, with no reports of factionalism from anywhere. He said the BJP was engaging in a policy of vendetta and urged members of Congress to collectively fight against the injustice and atrocities of the saffron party.

In an indirect hit against Scindia and other traitors in MP, Singh said it was unfortunate that post-independence ideology tended to wane for certain politicians over personal ambitions. “Congress is the only party that never compromised with the Sangh (RSS),” he said.

Singh alleged that through a strategy, BJP had reduced Nitish Kumar’s stature in Bihar, while completely uprooting Ram Vilas Paswan’s existence. He congratulated Tejashwi Yadav on Mahagathbandhan’s success in Bihar and accused AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi of benefiting the BJP internally. He said it remained to be seen whether Owaisi supported the MGB or NDA for the formation of a government in Bihar.

He urged Nitish Kumar to enter national politics to unite the believers of secularism and socialism. He said being in Bihar politics was smaller than Nitish Kumar’s stature deserved, and asked him to bless Tejaswi Yadav while avoiding the RSS / BJP ideology.
