Azim Premji, the founder and chairman of Wipro, topped the list of philanthropists in India for 2020 with 7,904 rupees in donations. He donated Rs 22 million a day, according to the EdelGive Hurun 2020 Indian Philanthropy List.

After her father emerged as the most generous Indian of the year 2020, Rishad Premji took to Twitter to share something about her father’s philosophy on wealth.

Speaking with Gujarat Vidyapith graduate students last year, Azim Premji revealed that his thinking and actions on what he should do with his wealth were influenced by his mother and Mahatma Gandhi.
“It was Mahatma Gandhi who, after my mother, most strongly influenced my thoughts and actions about what I should do with the privilege of my wealth,” Premji had said.
“The Mahatma’s idea that the rich should be trustees of their wealth for the good of the people and the community has resonated with me long before I became rich,” he said.
HCL Technologies Founding Chairman Shiv Nadar was ranked 2nd on the EdelGive Hurun India 2020 Philanthropy List with donations of Rs 795 crore.
Third on the list was taken by the richest man in India, Mukesh Ambani, with donations of Rs 458 million.
