In 2010, IND’s Dilip Varma won this seat by defeating JDU’s Khurshid Urf Firoj Ahamad by a margin of 8,779 votes, representing 7.03% of the constituency’s total votes. IND had a 39.4% voting share in 2010 in the seat.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won the highest number of votes in segment 9. of the Sikta Assembly of the Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha constituency. Baidyanath Prasad Mahto of JDU won the parliament seat from Valmiki Nagar.
