IPL 2020 MI vs DC Finals: It is a very important day for Delhi Capitals as they are now on the verge of winning their first IPL title in 13 years. But DC is sweating over the fitness of their key spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The news from the Delhi capitals camp is that all is not well with Ashwin’s shoulder.
The physical therapist and support staff are working overtime on Ashwin’s shoulder and doing their best to get him ready for the grand finale.
“Ashwin’s shoulder is giving him trouble. But I’m sure that he will make it through the final ”, said a source close to the Delhi Capitals team.
IPL 2020 Finals: What’s Ashwin Worried About?
According to the source, Ashwin has been suffering from a shoulder injury for some time, but has been handling it quite well. He also looked uncomfortable in Qualifier 2 when he got to cast his second spell.
– Against RCB, Ashwin went solo with the new ball and when he returned he was throwing carrom balls.
– Television expert Graeme Swann quickly realized the same thing and asked if Ashwin’s injury prevented him from bowling outside of regular breaks and affected his bowling.
Ashwin has played wonderfully this season and has taken 13 wickets out of 14 games giving away 7.72 runs over. At first glance, there is nothing surprising about those figures. But scratch the surface, you will get a clearer picture. He has struck at crucial moments in the match to keep Delhi on the hunt. The bigger the batter, the better Ashwin has thrown.
Also, it’s not easy to score runs against Ashwin and that puts pressure on opposing hitters. Lack of limits ultimately forces hitters to make mistakes and throw their wickets.
Even in Qualifier 1, the veteran officer had taken three wickets within the first 13 overs before Mumbai escaped via Hardik Pandya’s assault in the death overs. Ashwin will have to repeat his feat if Delhi is to win the IPL title for the first time.
IPL 2020 Finals: Will Delhi Play With 3 Spinners Or Will They Make A Change?
Despite the cargo injury, Ashwin will not only have to play, but will also play an important role. DC management also has a big decision to make about playingXI for the IPL Finals. Mumbai Indians have three left-handers in their lineup and in the midst of that, will it be wise to trust rookie Praveen Dubey or make a switch?
Everyone in DC camp is tight on the game XI – but there are indications that there may be a draw between Dubey and Harshal Patel for the final spot in playingXI.
Delhi Capitals probably XI for the final: 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Marcus Stoinis, 3 Ajinkya Rahane, 4 Shreyas Iyer (capt), 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Rishabh Pant (week), 7 Axar Patel, 8 Praveen Dubey / Harshal Patel, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 R Ashwin, 11 Anrich Nortje.
