Bangalore: The counting of votes for by-elections to two crucial assembly constituencies has begun in Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) in Bengaluru and Sira in Tumkur. The first trends are expected to emerge at 10 AM, while the results will be released in the afternoon. Biennial elections for 4 Council seats were held on October 28 in the constituencies of Karnataka West Graduates, Karnataka North-East Teachers, Bangalore Teachers and Karnataka South-East Graduates. Also Read – Arrah Election District Election Result LIVE: Vote Counting Begins
At West Graduates, 70.11% of votes were registered, followed by 75% at South-East Graduates, 73.32% at North-East Teachers, and 66% at Bangalore Teachers. Read also – Result of the election of the electoral district of Tarari LIVE: The counting of votes begins
“Counting for West Graduates is in Dharwad in the northwestern region of the state, North-East Teachers in Kalaburagi in the northern region of the state, Bangalore Teachers and North-East Teachers in Bengaluru,” the official said.
Although 16 were in contention in RR Nagar and 15 in Sira, the main competition in both seats is triangular, as the BJP, Congress and the JD-S presented candidates against each other.
The death of Sira MLA B Satyanarayana, who was from the JD (S) and the resignation of Rajarajeshwari Nagar Congress MLA Munirathna from the assembly last year, led to by-elections.
In RR Nagar, the BJP has put forward the former Congress MLA Munirathna as its candidate, while the Congress has vetted H Kusuma, wife of the late former IAS officer DK Ravi, in the seat traditionally held by the party. Meanwhile, JD (S) has chosen V Krishnamurthy for the seat.
In Sira, the BJP, Congress and JD (S) have sent radiologist Dr. Rakesh Gowda, former minister TB Jayachandra and ex-wife of former (JD-S) MLA B Satyanarayana, Ammajamma, respectively.
