JAMMU: Head of PDP Mehbooba Mufti on Monday he stated that he will hold the tricolor flag and the old state flag of Jammu and Kashmir together, and said that as the MLA it had reaffirmed its faith in the J&K Constitution and the sovereignty and integrity of India, as the two are inseparable.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir had said last month that she was not interested in participating in elections or holding the national flag until constitutional changes implemented on August 5 last year were repealed, sparking protests in Jammu.
“We are the people, especially in the Kashmir Valley, who maintained the high tricolor over the years at the cost of thousands of our workers who were martyred,” Mufti told reporters here at the end of his five-day visit to Jammu. first after being released from a detention of more than a year under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, in addition to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) without naming him, he said: “Those who move with half pants and where their leader sits do not hoist the tricolor (at their headquarters) and are giving us lessons. on the national flag. ”
He said his father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, picked up the national flag when they were dismissed as “filthy drain bugs” and subjected to a social boycott.
“We, including the BJP members, have sworn (in the assembly and council) that we will affirm our faith in the J&K Constitution and uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India. First, it was the J&K Constitution and then the sovereignty e integrity of the country. How is it, they cut off one finger and leave the other, not good, “he said.
When asked if he will hold the tricolor, Mufti said: “I had already replied that I took an oath of the J&K Constitution when I first became the MLA and affirm my faith in the J&K Constitution and uphold sovereignty and integrity. “. of India, which are interconnected. J&K flag and Indian flag, I’ll hold both flags together. ”
He accused the BJP of “severing relations” of Jammu and Kashmir with the country over its decision last year to repeal Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 and divide it into union territories.
“I am saying return our flag and the Constitution … the goods that they looted in the light of day after conspiring in the dead of night have to be returned with interest,” said the president of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) .
He said that the people of Nagaland had recently said that they did not accept the flag of this country and the Constitution, why these “half pants” did not hold protest marches against them.
“When I said we would raise the two flags, they came out with protests and burned my effigies, but when the people of Nagaland say, there is no murmur or discussion on television,” Mufti said.
