Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Joe Biden on win the presidency of the United States on Saturday in a tough election against US President Donald Trump. Shortly after Biden was declared the winner by the Associated Press, Prime Minister Modi congratulated him on his spectacular victory on Twitter, saying that Biden’s contributions as vice president to “strengthen Indo-US relations were critical and invaluable.”
“I look forward to working closely once again to take the US-Indian relations to greater heights,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi also congratulated Biden’s running mate, Senator Kamala Harris, who will become the first woman to serve as the vice president of the United States.

Biden, 77, was elected on Saturday the 46th as president of the United States, even as President Trump refused to budge, saying that “the elections are far from over.”
Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi also congratulated President-elect Biden. In a tweet, he said: “I am sure it will unite America and give it a strong sense of direction.”
Congratulating Harris, she said her victory “makes us proud that the first woman to serve as the vice president of the US has her roots in India.”
Harris, 56, is the daughter of Shyamala Gopalan of India and Donald Harris of Jamaica.
