Not a good loser: Trump promises a long court fight

Moments after the news channels rated the results of the US presidential election in favor of Joe Biden, Donald Trump said in a campaign statement: “Starting Monday, our campaign will begin to process our case in court. to ensure that electoral laws are fully enforced and the rightful winner is seated. “

Trump’s letter against provisional and mail ballots continued on Twitter Saturday when he wrote: “Tens of thousands of votes were illegally received after 8pm on Tuesday, Election Day … changing the results in Pennsylvania and some other thin states. … ”The social media company flagged these tweets as“ disputed ”and possibly“ misleading ”.

Since midnight on Nov. 4 when Trump prematurely declared himself victorious, his campaign has generated legal challenges in states such as Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

On Friday, his campaign issued a statement: “It is about the integrity of our entire electoral process. We will continue this process in all aspects of the law to ensure that the American people have confidence in our government. ”

David Bossie, who served as President Donald Trump’s deputy campaign manager in 2016, is leading the legal effort. Other members of the legal team include former New York City butler Rudy Giuliani, Jay Sekulow and Pam Biondi from his impeachment defense team, his son Eric Trump and former acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell.

A Supreme Court judge issued an order for all county boards to separate late-arriving ballots in Pennsylvania pending further orders from the superior court. State officials have said they were already keeping those ballots separate, but Republicans had argued they weren’t convinced that all counties were doing it uniformly. A state judge accepted the Trump campaign’s request to observe Philadelphia poll workers as they process the remaining ballots by mail. However, the judge denied having stopped the count after an agreement was reached for 60 observers from each party to observe the process.

Later, the Trump campaign filed a federal lawsuit with the intent to stop Philadelphia’s vote count. This request was ultimately denied.

In Nevada, a lawsuit was filed alleging that ineligible votes were cast in the Las Vegas area.

The lawsuits filed in Michigan and Georgia about the electoral process were dismissed.
