A senior police officer said that the police have received judicial sanction from both the Delhi government and the Union Ministry of the Interior against Mr. Khalid.
Police received a judicial sanction from the Kejriwal government against Umar Khalid, a former JNU student leader, in connection with a case related to February communal violence in northeast Delhi, officials said on Friday. “We have given judicial sanction in all cases related to the Delhi riots recorded by the police. Now it is up to the courts to see who the accused are, ”said a senior Delhi government official.
Sanction has been received against Mr. Khalid in the Delhi riots conspiracy case, in which he was booked under the strict Illegal Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against terrorism.
A senior police officer said that the police have received judicial sanction from both the Delhi government and the Union Ministry of the Interior against Mr. Khalid in connection with the conspiracy case of riots in Delhi.

“We have received a judicial sanction against Umar Khalid in connection with a case registered against him under the UAPA. We have received sanctions from both the Delhi government and the Interior Ministry, ”the official said.
The officer said the prosecution sanctions against Mr. Khalid were received a fortnight ago and added that the Delhi police can now name him on their supplemental charge sheet.

“To prosecute one under section 13 of the UAPA, we need the sanction of the Ministry of the Interior, which we have already received. For the prosecution under section 16, 17 and 18 of the UAPA, we have received sanction from the Delhi government, ”said the officer.
Mr. Khalid was arrested on September 13 under the UAPA law in a case related to community violence in northeast Delhi.
