Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the keynote guest at the 51st Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) convocation ceremony here on Saturday during which 2019 graduate students will receive degrees.
“The Prime Minister will be the keynote guest at the 51st IIT Delhi Annual Convocation ceremony on November 7. He will address the Convocation via videoconference,” IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao told a conference of online press on Thursday.
“The convocation will be conducted in a hybrid mode with a limited attendance physical in-person ceremony in the institute’s Dogra Hall and an online webcast reaching all graduate students, their parents, distinguished alumni, guests, and all others. . The degrees will be awarded to the 2019 graduate students, ”he added.
The institute will award the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma’s Gold Medal (Former President of India), the Perfect Ten Gold Medals and the Institute’s Silver Medals to the students who graduate in the call.
“The President’s Gold Medal is awarded to a student who ranks first among all students graduating from UG for highest academic achievement or CGPA. The Principal’s Gold Medal is awarded to a UG graduating student for academic achievement and extracurricular activities, ”he said. In the call, the esteemed students with Alumni Awards 2020 will also be congratulated.
“Five students from IIT Delhi will receive the ‘Distinguished Student Award’ and one student will receive the ‘Distinguished Student Service Award,'” Rao added. The Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal is awarded to a graduating PG student who is considered the best among all MTech graduating students for overall competency, including character and conduct, excellence in performance academic, extracurricular activities and social service. The Perfect 10 Gold Medal is awarded to a PG student who graduates and earns a CGPA of 10 out of 10. The Institute Silver Medal is awarded to a UG student who graduates and earns the highest CGPA in the respective program.
