2 civilians injured when terrorists shoot at forces in Pulwama, encounter on | India News


SRINAGAR: Two civilians were injured, one of them seriously, after terrorists fired at security forces in Lalpora area from Pampore in southern Kashmir Pulwama District Thursday night, prompting an encounter in the area, authorities said.
The hidden terrorists opened fire on a joint team of J&K Police, Army and CRPF shortly after forces carried out a cordon and search operation in Lalpora. The two civilians were caught in the crossfire, resulting in injuries. The injured have been identified as Abid Nabi and Kifayat Ahmad, both residents of Pampore.
Police said that contact was made with the terrorists and that the operation was ongoing until the time of this report.
The Kashmir area police on their official Twitter account said: “During CASE in #Lalpora #Pampore, #Militants fired indiscriminately at which two unknown persons were injured. The search in the area is underway. ”
Meanwhile, in two separate offenses, a merchant was shot and a cabbie shot by terrorists in Pulwama district Thursday night, authorities said. The first crime took place in Tral and the murdered merchant has been identified as Muhammad Ayoub Ahanger.
In the second crime, terrorists shot at the taxi driver Muhammad Aslam Wani in the Wanpora area. Wani suffered gunshot wounds in the attack.
