2020 U.S. election: Biden’s Nevada leadership grows on latest results – U.S. presidential election

New election results from the Nevada Secretary of State showed that Biden’s lead over Trump has increased to 11,787 votes, or roughly 1 percentage point.

The new figures included tens of thousands of provisional and mail-in ballots counted in Clark and Washoe counties, home to Las Vegas and Reno respectively. They are coming after a day of whiplash with county and state officials initially promising new numbers only to later tip off they would appear Thursday.

Clark County, a Democratic stronghold, has attracted particular attention; Hillary Clinton won the county by 10.7 percentage points in 2016 and won the state by 2.4 percentage points.

The Trump campaign announced a voter fraud lawsuit at the Clark County Elections Department shortly before the latest results were announced. The lawsuit will allege that thousands of people voted in the elections who no longer live in the state. It follows other Trump campaign demands in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

The state has not released official data on how much of the votes has been counted so far. Whatever happens, the numbers won’t be final until the state’s final scrutiny on November 16. Mail-in ballots postmarked on Election Day are accepted by clerks through November 10, while rejected ballots can be repaired by voters through November 12.
