2020 Hyundai i20 exterior and dimensions

The Hyundai i20 sits atop Hyundai’s new K platform and the hatchback is now 10mm longer than the previous Elite i20 at 3,995mm, 41mm wider at 1,775mm while the height remains unchanged at 1,505mm. The wheelbase has increased from 10mm to 2,580mm. Hyundai claims the new i20 is significantly roomier than the car it replaces with an 88mm increase in legroom and 40mm more shoulder room. The trunk space has also increased from 26 liters to 311 liters. While built on the same fundamentals as the international spec car, Hyundai India has shortened the length of the i20 by 45mm to help it meet our regulations of less than four meters.

The new Hyundai i20 follows the theme of Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design and has taken on a significantly more assertive look. This is manifested by design elements like the widened squat stance, the full-face grille with the wide, sloping-back headlamps, and the chiseled hood. Moving along are some very defined body lines and the unique taillights with their Z motifs and linked chrome element. Other touches include the upturned glass house with a strong chrome trim, exclusive C-pillar treatment and gloss black boot lid projection. Higher spec cars feature a glossy black grille with angular accents, LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, projector fog lamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and front lip, side skirts and a diffuser. contrasting ornamental rear. Despite being increased in size, the i20 only weighs about 1,100 kg on average, and its construction uses more high-strength steel.

2020 Hyundai i20 interior and dimensions

The interiors of the new i20 have also been completely renovated. The flat and layered theme of the new Hyundais is also seen here, either with a black color with red highlight or a dual tone available depending on the variant chosen. The i20 is unique here with its horizontal-themed design with a marked mid-riff running across the dash and integrating the air conditioning vents. This topic is followed in the lower section with the extensive AC controls and button layout. There is a floating panel to house the touch screen and a cluster of digital instruments. The new four-spoke steering wheel also appears here. The main features on the high-spec cars are a sunroof, wireless charging with phone cooling, an air purifier, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto / Apple Carplay, and seven-speaker Bose audio. The latest version of Hyundai’s Bluelink Connected Car Feature Set is also listed here. Four variants are offered: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O)

Hyundai i20 engines

The 2020 Hyundai i20 is powered by a suite of familiar engines, already seen in cars like the Venue and revamped Verna. At the bottom of the range is the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder Kappa petrol that generates 83PS when paired with a five-speed manual transmission and 88PS when paired with the CVT. The torque output is 114 Nm. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder T-GDi also makes an appearance here, in its highest form of 120 hp and 172 Nm. This is paired with a seven-speed DCT or a six-speed iMT. There is no manual option, but Hyundai claims a 0-100 km / h time of 9.9 seconds with the turbo-iMT. The diesel engine option is the 1.5-liter four-cylinder U2 CRDi diesel. Seen here on its non-VGT 100PS & 240Nm, this engine is paired only with a six-speed manual.
