Life lessons, Mahi way: ‘Lucky’ Ruturaj has his own story from Dhoni – cricket

Everyone who has had the pleasure of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s company has their own treasure trove of stories and the latest to join that ever-growing list is the rising star of Chennai Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad was the only ray of light in an otherwise disastrous CSK campaign, ending three half centuries in a row, albeit in inconsequential games. Gaikwad recalled how he was touched by the warmth of the former India captain during their first meeting in 2016 during his first-class debut.

“In October 2016, I met him for the first time, I broke my finger during my debut Ranji game, he was Jharkhand’s mentor. And he himself came and asked me how I’m doing, ”Gaikwad wrote on Instagram.

In 2020, the 23-year-old had a series of low scores in his opening IPL matches, but once again it was the skipper, who reached out to him and gave him some advice that will stay with him for life.

“October 2020..3 low scores, he himself came up and talked about life !! Lucky to be able to share a dressing room with him. And more than a dream to share 22 yards with him and finish things off, ”added Gaikwad.
