WASHINGTON: Niraj antani, a 29-year-old Republican, has created history by becoming the first Indian-American to be elected to the Ohio State Senate.
Antani, currently a state representative, defeated Mark Fogel of the Democratic Party on Tuesday and was elected state senator for the Ohio Senate6th District, which encompasses most of Montgomery County.
Once you are sworn in, you will create history by becoming the first Indian-American state senator from Ohio.
“I am very grateful for the continued support of this community in which I was born and raised. My grandparents lived much of their life under British rule in India, and they only gained their freedom seven decades ago, ”Antani said.
“The fact that your grandson is elected as the first Indian-American state senator from Ohio is a testament to the beauty of America. I thank the voters for entrusting me with this sacred honor, being their voice in the House of Representatives, ”he said.
Antani, a political science graduate, at the age of 23, was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2014, becoming one of the youngest state legislators in the US.

Antani’s parents came to the United States in 1987 and settled in Washington Township. They later moved to Miami.
