In 24 hours, India recorded a 20 percent increase in new Covid-19 cases, as 46,253 new cases were recorded on Wednesday against 38,310 on Tuesday. However, this does not alter the number of active cases, since 53,357 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours. The total of active cases on Wednesday stood at 5,33,787, while the total count was 83.13,877. On November 3, 12,09,609 samples were analyzed.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, there has been a continuous decrease in the daily average of new cases during the last seven weeks. Between September 16 and 22, new daily cases used to be around 90,346. That dropped to around 60,000 between October 14 and 20. Between October 28 and November 30, the average has dropped to 45,884.
The daily average of new deaths has also decreased in the last seven weeks. Data from the Health Ministry reveals that the average daily death used to be 1,165 between September 16 and 22. Between October 14 and 20, it dropped to 763. Between October 28 and November 3, it was 513.
States have been asked to proactively follow the Test-Track-Trace and Treat strategy during the current holiday season.
Delhi, Kerala, West Bengal and Manipur are the four states that are showing an increase in the number of active cases that defy the national trend of a steady decline. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Utar Pradesh report a decrease in the number of active cases in the last month.
