Australian Chennai Super Kings (CSK) importer Shane Watson announced his retirement from all forms of competitive cricket on Tuesday. The 39-year-old played for CSK in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, where the team finished in seventh place in the table. Watson also said goodbye to CSK fans in a short video posted on Twitter. Speaking through CSK’s official name, Watson said: “Hello everyone, the Yellow Army! I just want to announce to everyone that this year for CSK has been my last year playing cricket.”

Watson seemed visibly excited and ended a decorated career. “I’m going to retire of all kinds from now on. It’s a very emotional moment,” he joked.
“Grateful for your love and support over the past three years. You never know what’s going to happen in the future if I’m still involved in some way,” he said.
“I hope I have returned all the support you have given me,” said Watson, who had retired from international cricket in 2016.
The SUV had already announced the news through its YouTube channel.

At IPL, Watson has represented the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and CSK. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), he scored 299 runs in 11 games, with a hit rate of 121.05.
He won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2007 and 2015. He was also the Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup 2012. In total, he represented Australia in 59 events, 190 ODI and 58 T20I.
