Micromax marked its return to the Indian smartphone market with aggressive pricing in an attempt to undermine its rivals. With the launch of IN 1b, the Indian smartphone maker has provided potential buyers with a new option in the entry-level segment. The phone has a starting price of Rs 6,999, making it one of the most affordable phones on the market when specs are taken into account. Here is a comparison of Micromax IN 1b with Realme C11 and Redmi 9.
Exhibition and Design
Micromax IN 1b has a 6.52-inch HD + IPS screen with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The display’s specs are good for content consumption, but how much detail it offers alongside its visibility in sunlight remains to be seen.
Realme C11 has a 6.5-inch HD + screen with sunlight display support and a touch sampling rate of 120Hz. There is not much difference in the size of the Redmi 9 screen, as well as it is a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with different modes such as reading mode, sunlight mode. On the front, all three phones have a waterdrop notch.
On the back, the Micromax IN 1b and Realme C11 have a similar design with a vertical matte stripe running from top to bottom and branding on the latter. Redmi 9 takes a simpler approach. All three phones have a fingerprint scanner on the back below the camera module.
Processor and performance
All three phones are powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC. On paper, all phones appear to be well-equipped, although real-life performance can only be determined once we’ve reviewed the device.
One area where Micromax IN 1b has an advantage is its software, as it will deliver Google’s standard Android without any bloatware. But the 2GB RAM version has the Android 10 Go edition, which is an optimized version of the operating system for phones with less RAM, although you can also download all the regular non-GO applications. The 4GB RAM version runs Android 10. Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma also promised two years of guaranteed software updates. On the other hand, Redmi 9 and Realme C11 have MIUI and Realme UI on top of Android 10 respectively. These Redmi and Realme skins come with many customizations for users.
Cameras
Micromax IN 1b has a dual camera setup on the back with a 13MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. The camera specs on the rear are the same on the Realme C11 and Redmi 9. Again, it remains to be seen how well the Micromax 1b’s cameras perform while capturing details or where light conditions are not favorable. On the front, it wins in resolution with an 8MP camera compared to the competition’s 5MP camera.
Battery and charging
All three phones are powered by a 5000 mAh battery. Micromax 1b and Realme C11 support 10W charging speed and reverse charging. The nice thing Micromax did was include a USB Type-C port on the In 1b. The batteries in these phones should last a day on a single full charge.
Variants and price
Pricing for the Micromax 1b starts at Rs 6,999 for the 2GB + 32GB variant and Rs 7,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant. Realme C11 comes in only one configuration. The 2GB + 32GB variant of the Realme C11 is priced at Rs 6,999. Redmi 9 is priced higher than the rest in the comparison, costing Rs 8,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant and Rs 9,999 for the 4GB + 128GB variant.
