New Delhi – On Thursday (October 29, 2020) officers from the Faridabad Criminal Branch arrested a third person in connection with the murder case of Nikita Tomar.
According to police, Azru had provided the weapon or ‘katta’ that was used to commit the crime. Police removed him from Haryana’s Nooh after raiding more than a dozen locations.
Police had previously arrested two defendants: Tauseef Ahmed and Rehan for the murder of Nikita Tomar, a 19-year-old B Com student from Ballabhgarh in Faridabad who was shot and killed in front of Aggarwal College on Monday.
The shocking incident was captured on a closed-circuit television camera in which the two defendants can be seen getting out of a white i20 car and trying to seize two female students.

The Haryana Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) found the murder weapon and tracked down the owner of the white i20 car used by the main defendant Tauseef.
The police have discovered that the i20 car used by the defendant is registered to a person from Delhi. Police called the person for questioning, but the car has yet to be recovered.
The SIT team also came to Nikita Tomar’s home to speak with the family as they formally began their investigation into the sensational murder case, which has sparked national outrage over the incident.

The defendant, Tauseef, also reportedly confessed to the crime. He said, “I killed her because she was going to marry someone else.” During questioning, Tauseef also claimed that his career was ruined due to a case brought by Nikita’s family in 2018. “I couldn’t study medicine because I was arrested. And that’s why I took my revenge,” he said.
He also confessed to having a conversation with Nikita on the night of October 25.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Tauseef’s family is closely linked to the MLA Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed Congress session from the Nuh (Mewat) constituency of Haryana.
In 2019, Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed was re-elected and nominated as Deputy Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislative Party. He has also served as Minister of Transportation, Minister of Tourism, Minister of Printing and Stationery, and State Vice President of the Haryana Congress.
