Barcelona remain perfect in the Champions League thanks to an impressive 2-0 win over Juventus in the Allianz Stadium thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembélé and Lionel Messi. Barça played a full match as a team, with excellent individual performances as well and a clean sheet against Juve in Turin, which is a rarity.
FIRST HALF
Barça made a very quick start, with three great chances in less than two minutes and a lot of intensity and hunger to get the ball back. But they also had to deal with an intense and hungry Juventus that pressed very high looking to force errors in the rear.
the Blaugrana struggled to get out of his own field, but once they finally did they scored a goal: Ousmane Dembélé received the ball in space, made a couple of plays and fired a shot with his right foot that deflected Leonardo Bonucci and went for above Szczesny. In the net.
Juventus seized the ball and began to move forward looking for an equalizer, and Álvaro Morata scored twice only to have both goals canceled for offside. Apart from those two moments, the Anciana looked dangerous at times but the Barça defense did a good job avoiding big problems.
At half-time Barça played well with the ball, had a well-deserved advantage and looked pretty solid without the ball, but still needed another goal to secure the victory.
SECOND HALF
The second half started with another goal disallowed for Morata for offside, the third of the night. But that was it for Juventus when it came to offensive prowess, as the hosts fought mightily to create a meaningful offense with Paulo Dybala far from his prime.
Barça did a masterful job of maintaining possession and forcing Juve to run after the ball, and Miralem Pjanic continued to play an exceptional game in midfield controlling the pace and creating dangerous chances with smart passes, and Barça kept opening big opportunities.
Messi, Pedri and Griezmann had great scoring opportunities, but they couldn’t, and as we reached the final 10 minutes, Juve still had a chance to equalize despite their struggles in attack. But Barça did a great job holding the ball and Lionel Messi scored a penalty in the 90th minute to ensure victory.
The final whiste came to end an excellent victory for Barça. On the first day without Josep Maria Bartomeu at the helm, Barça made their best performance of the season so far. Is this hope?
