NEW DELHI: University of Delhi Vice Chancellor Yogesh tyagi on Wednesday it was suspended by order of the president Ram Nath Kovind in the middle of a dispute over alleged administrative lapses.
“The Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Yogesh Tyagi, was suspended by order of the president. Orders issued by the now suspended DU VC Yogesh Tyagi during his period of absence for medical reasons will be considered void,” the Ministry of Education said in a release.

The president, a visitor from the University of Delhi, on Tuesday approved the education ministry’s recommendations for an investigation against DU vice chancellor Yogesh Tyagi for administrative failures.
The ministry official said: “The vice chancellor is not running the university in accordance with the (legal) provisions … which has caused bad governance and a malfunction of the University of Delhi. This is not conducive to an academic environment and proper administration of the University. ”
“The President of India in his capacity as Visitor to the University, considering the facts and the material available in the file, has ordered an investigation into the accusations of breach of duties and lack of commitment and devotion to duty against him. The president has also been pleased to suspend Yogesh Tyagi with immediate effect until further orders, as he may influence / coerce witnesses and alter the material records of the university to ensure a fair investigation, “the official said.
