NEW DELHI: Amid national outrage over Ballabhgarh’s sensational “love jihad” murder case and the growing clamor for justice for the victim, it has come to light why Tauseef killed the 19-year-old college student in Faridabad on Monday. Tauseef, who along with his friend Rehan, was arrested in Mewat by Haryana SIT police, allegedly told investigators that he killed Nikita Tomar because she planned to marry someone else soon.
As Nikita had refused to convert to Islam and had rejected his “friendship”, Tauseef became enraged and wanted to teach Nikita a lesson. With no other choice, Tauseef planned to kill and shoot her as she was leaving college on Monday after taking her exams.
The two defendants in the case, Tauseef and Rehan, were brought before a court in the Faridabad district and sent to remand for two days. As police continue to investigate the broad daylight murder of the 19-year-old girl, several intriguing facts have also come to light that expose the strong political connections of the Tauseef family, which is why he managed to dispose of after committing a such a heinous crime.
Tauseef’s family is closely linked to the MLA Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed Congress from Haryana’s Nuh (Mewat) constituency. In 2019, Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed was re-elected and nominated as Deputy Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislative Party. He has also served as Minister of Transportation, Minister of Tourism, Minister of Printing and Stationery, and State Vice President of the Haryana Congress.
It should be remembered that the SIT formed by the Haryana Police to catch the two culprits, Tauseef and Rehan, involved in the murder of Nikita Tomar, were arrested in Nuh, represented by Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed.
This shows why Nikita’s family had preferred to keep a low profile, as they feared serious consequences due to the Tauseef family’s strong political ties. Nikita’s father had told him that to this day no one from the Congress party, much less the acting legislator of the area, has come to their rescue or offered any help.
The girl’s father had alleged that Tauseef had been harassing her for the past two years and pressuring her to marry, to which she refused. He also claimed that Tauseef was trying to convert Nikita to Islam.
“He should receive capital punishment and our family should receive security,” said the girl’s father. During the investigation, it was learned that the main defendant was the woman’s classmate and they knew each other, according to Haryana police. The ongoing investigation into the case has revealed that Tauseef has been harassing Nikita for the past two years and his family has also filed a police complaint against him.
But because his family feared the influential Tauseef in-laws, a compromise was reached in the presence of the panchayat members. With Mewat now emerging as the new hotbed of love jihad, it has also come to light why various Hindu families had to emigrate from Mewat and the surrounding areas in recent years.
The brother of a 21-year-old college student, who was given an emotional farewell on Tuesday (October 27) amid the furor over forced conversions in the Mewat region, had told Zee News that Tauseef was repeatedly pressuring her. for him to convert to Islam so that he can marry her, a point that Mewat is the new hotbed of ‘love jihad’ in the country.
Nikita’s brother also stated that the defendant Tauseef is the MLA Congressional nephew Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed, which is why the two killers rushed to Mewat shortly after committing the heinous crime to evade the law.
The sensational crime was even caught by someone via mobile phone, whose images went viral on social media. In the video, Tauseef, along with his accomplice Rehan, is seen arriving outside the university and parking the white car on the road.
Nikita is seen walking down the street accompanied by one of her friends and the accused suddenly pulls out a gun and shoots her behind the ear from very close, leaving her in a pool of blood at the scene. Before some passersby, who became aware of the crime, could react, the two defendants fled the scene in their car. The incident sparked protests with students and local residents who blocked the Sohna-Ballabgarh highway for several hours on Tuesday.
After the two defendants were arrested, Haryana Interior Minister Vij said the murder weapon was also recovered. “An SIT led by ACP, Crime, Anil Kumar would guarantee a speedy investigation and a trial with deadlines to guarantee justice to the family,” said the minister. With Congress’s link to the accused murder coming to light, Congress criticized the Haryana government for poor law and order in the state.
The head of Congress, Randeep Singh Surjewala, criticized the Khattar government saying: “Over the past two years, there has been a 45 percent increase in crime against women in Haryana. In gangrape incidents, Haryana is in the top”. He also called on the Khattar government to crack down on criminals. “Otherwise, the newspapers will fill with such news every day. This government has no moral right to remain in power for another day,” said the congressional leader.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State and Faridabad MP KP Gurjar and Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma, who is Ballabgarh’s BJP MLA, told reporters that the defendants will be treated according to the law.
Zee News, which has launched a massive campaign to seek justice for Nikita, has raised several questions about the apparent lack of action by the police against Tauseef, which might otherwise have saved the life of a promising young woman.
Top congressional leaders are also silent on the issue and leaders such as Assaddudin Owaisi and members of the “Award Wapsi” gang are keeping quiet, raising questions about the selective branding of their vote bank policies.
