Ankhi Das, Facebook’s head of public policy who was in the eye of the storm for an alleged bias in blocking hateful content on the social media platform, resigned from the company.
“Ankhi has decided to leave her role at Facebook to pursue her interest in public service. Ankhi was one of our first employees in India and played a critical role in the growth of the company and its services over the past 9 years, ”said Ajit Mohan, Facebook’s Managing Director India, in an emailed statement.
“When I joined Facebook in 2011, Internet growth in the country was woefully low and I often wondered how social and economic asymmetries will be addressed,” Das said in announcing his resignation.
“Back then we were a small, private company, guided solely by our mission and purpose of connecting people in India. After nine long years, I feel that the mission has been largely accomplished. I have learned a lot from the incredibly smart and talented people in the company, particularly the people on the policy team. This is a special company and a special group of people, ”he also said.
Thank you Mark for creating something beautiful for the world. I hope I have served you and the company well, ”he also said.
