After releasing teasers for the third-generation i20, Hyundai has now opened reservations for the hatchback. You can reserve yours for 21,000 rupees via Hyundai’s online platform or by visiting its dealers from October 28. The i20 is scheduled to launch on November 5, and the previous generation model has been discontinued.

The Hyundai i20 will be available in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). As we previously reported, engine options will be similar to the Venue subcompact SUV. Therefore, you will have to choose between a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine (83 hp / 113 Nm) combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT, and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol (120 hp / 173 Nm) combined with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 1.5-liter diesel (100 hp / 240 Nm) is also offered with a 6-speed manual transmission.

It will come in a wide palette of monotonous and two-tone colors as follows:

  • Polar white

  • Typhoon Silver

  • Titan gray

  • Red fire

  • Starry Night

  • Metallic Copper

Hyundai has yet to reveal the feature set, but if the powertrains are valid, the quality of the equipment will be even higher. It will have full LED lighting, a sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a semi-digital instrument cluster along with connected technology, an air purifier, wireless charging, and ambient lighting. Safety highlights should include six airbags, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

Expect the i20 to have an introductory price of around Rs 6 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 10 lakh for the top trim. It will compete with those of Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Maruti Baleno and Volkswagen Polo.
