An 18-year-old man was shot dead and some people were injured when shooting after clashes during the dive of the goddess Durga on Monday in Munger of Bihar. A video showing a police lathi-charge of a group wearing a Durga idol, widely posted online, has sparked anger just a day before voting begins in the state for a new government.

The stone throwing caused a lathicharge charge. When the situation worsened, the police also fired.

“During the immersion in Durga puja, some anti-social elements resorted to stoning that left 20 police officers injured. After this, someone from the crowd fired, causing one death. The situation is under control,” said Lipi Singh, Superintendent of Police. Munger.

Some officials claimed that police officers were also shot. “Rumors spread and attempts were made to vitiate the atmosphere after the incident,” said an official, adding that three pistols, bullets and cartridges were found.

“There were attempts to falsely accuse the police of beating people. The situation is peaceful now. We are trying to identify the accused,” he said.

The man who died was identified as Anurag Poddar.

Among those who tweeted about the incident was Chirag Paswan, whose party is fighting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar despite being part of the National Democratic Alliance.

“Munger police must be charged with murder. Devotees in the Nitish Kumar government ‘similar to that of the Taliban’ were shot at. The area Police Superintendent must be immediately suspended and an FIR registered. the victim should receive Rs 50 lakh and a government job, “Chirag Paswan tweeted, pointing to the Chief Minister.
