The 2020 Hyundai i20 is one of the most anticipated car launches of the year and the automaker officially released images of the premium hatchback on Tuesday and announced that pre-launch pre-orders will open from Wednesday (October 28). Interested customers can book the 2020 Hyundai i20 for a deposit of ₹21,000. The car will be officially launched in the country on November 5.
Hyundai advises interested customers can make reservations for the i20 at any of its dealerships nationwide or make use of its online platform, Click2Buy, as well. For reservations made on Hyundai’s digital platform, customers can also get a 10% refund on the reservation amount by using ICICI or HDFC bank credit or debit cards.
From the official released images, it is clear that the upcoming i20 is significantly different from the previous model. This is highlighted by a new front grille, redesigned headlamps, a sculpted hood, new alloys, and a sleek rear profile punctuated by redesigned taillights.
The Korean automaker has confirmed that the new i20 will be offered in BS 6-compliant gasoline, diesel and turbo petrol engine options. Additionally, the i20 will also offer a choice between manual transmission, IMT (intelligent manual transmission), First in the segment, 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) and IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).
The i20 will be offered in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O).
There will be six color options to choose from on the new i20. These are: Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Gray, Fiery Red, Starry Night and Metallic Cooper. Two-tone options include Polar White with a black roof and Fiery red with a black roof.
Hyundai had previously confirmed that the new i20 will be lighter but more resistant to crashes. The company claims it uses 66% advanced, high-strength steel for a robust ‘superstructure’. Created with 5,400 tonnes of stamping in the press shop, this superstructure forms the core of the new i20’s safety features. (Full report here)
i20 is a key product launch for Hyundai, also because it has been a strong player in its segment since it was first launched in India in 2008. “i20 has been a high-performance brand for Hyundai that has resonated perfectly with the aspirations of Indian Customers for over a decade, “says SS Kim, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India. “The all-new i20 is ready to reset the benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment with its elegant styling, exciting performance and unmatched new technologies.”
Hyundai is scheduled to officially launch the new i20 in the first week of November, and the car will renew its rivalry with Tata Altroz, Maurti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz, among others.
