Now any Indian citizen can buy land in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh | India News

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of the Interior (MHA) on Tuesday notified new laws for the territories of the Union of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Center has repealed or replaced 26 state laws.
According to the notification, any Indian citizen can buy land in J&K and Ladakh.
The Center has omitted “being a permanent resident of the state” as a precondition for purchasing land in J&K and Ladakh.
The MHA notice will be effective immediately.
In reaction to the MHA notification, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said that J&K is already up for sale.
“Unacceptable amendments to J&K land ownership laws. Even the symbolism of domicile has been removed when the purchase of non-agricultural land and the transfer of agricultural land has been facilitated. J&K is now for sale and small owners poorer lands will suffer, “said Omar Abdullah in a tweet.
