Mumbai NCB officials were deployed in plain clothes at two locations in Versova, Mumbai. Five people have been arrested in the operation that still continues.
This comes in the wake of the ongoing drug investigation after the death of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. NCB officials are investigating all links to all defendants in the case, including vendors, street vendors, and also consumers.
The investigation into Bollywood’s connection to drugs began when the emergency department recovered WhatsApp messages from Rhea Chakraborty in which she allegedly discussed drugs with her friends and others. The ED then asked the OCN to investigate the matter. Many Bollywood celebrities entered NCB’s radar after this. Actresses such as Deepika Padukone, Sharddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh were also questioned in the case.
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB along with her brother, Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s home manager Samuel Miranda, and his employee Dipesh Sawant. Rhea and Dipesh were released on bail earlier this month. Rhea spent 28 days in Byculla Jail in Mumbai.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai home on June 14. The Central Bureau of Investigation is investigating his death case.
