Mumbai: TV actor arrested by NCB for buying drugs

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday recorded two cases in which six people were arrested under the sections of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Among those arrested are a television actress and a citizen of Tanzania.

According to the police, based on the information received, a team from the Mumbai Zonal Unit detained two people in the Machhimar neighborhood, Versova, on Saturday around 7 pm. An NCB official said: “The team managed to affect a seizure of 99 grams of ganja from their possession.”

An NCB official said that after due questioning and recording of confessions, supplier Faisal (20) and Preetika Chauhan, (30), trustee, were arrested and brought before the court. Chauhan has worked on various television series, such as Maa Vaishnodevi.

During questioning, it was revealed that the seized marijuana came from a Deepak Rathaur, also a resident of Versova. An official said that Rathaur had also been previously arrested by the Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell for allegedly supplying drugs.

In another case, an official said, based on specific information received on October 23, an NCB Mumbai team seized four grams of cocaine on Mohammad Ali Road in southern Mumbai and arrested Bruno John Ngwale, a Tanzanian national. The arrest was made on Saturday.

During the course of the investigation, a follow-up team seized 4.40 grams of ecstasy and 1.88 grams of MDMA (6.28 grams total) in Versova, Andheri, and arrested a Rohit Hire on Saturday.

Subsequently, another NCB Mumbai team seized 325 grams of ganja, 32 grams of Charas and 05 grams of methamphetamine from a vehicle along with the seizure of Rs. 12,990. “We arrested a person in connection with this case,” said an official.
