Mumbai police arrested two people, including a woman, for assaulting a city police transit staff on duty on Kalbadevi Road after the act was caught on viral video on Saturday.
However, the woman alleged that she was initially abused by traffic police personnel, after which she behaved in the manner.
The two defendants have been identified as Sadashiv Tiwari and Mohsin Nizamuddin Khan.
A case has been registered under sections 353, 332, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and the matter is currently under investigation.
Reacting to the incident, the Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner (Traffic) said: “The woman and her friend will be sent to judicial custody for assaulting a police chief in Kalbadevi. I say on behalf of the Mumbai Police that such incidents They will not be tolerated at all. We will give body cameras to our staff here. “
