Fly abroad? Learn how you can get tested for Covid-19 at Delhi airport

As the number of people taking international flights from Delhi increases, Delhi Airport has also opened test facilities at its premises for outbound passengers. The facility has been limited to incoming passengers until now.

All international passengers must have a negative Covid-19 report before flying. The report should not be more than 96 hours old; times vary according to the rules of the destination countries. Even though all these checks and balances exist for international travelers, Indian airlines have been accused of carrying Covid-19 positive passengers. Dubai’s civil aviation authority has even asked Air India Express to reject the Covid-19 report from four specific labs in India, as their negative reports were proven to be false.

In this context, the facility at Delhi airport could be useful for departing passengers. This is all you need to know:

one. If you plan to get tested at the airport, you must arrive at the airport at least 7 to 8 hours before your scheduled trip, as the report will take between four and six hours to process.

two. The price is 2,400 rupees, as decided by the Delhi government. The waiting room charge is Rs 2600.

3. The facility is available 24 hours.

Four. The facility, which until now was limited to incoming passengers only, can be pre-booked online where passengers must enter their name, email address, Aadhaar or passport number, flight number, PNR number, date, time slot hours and the number of passengers to be examined. There are hourly slots throughout the day.

5. Passengers must provide nasal and throat swab samples.

Delhi Airport has recently been certified as the second safest airfield in the world in the post-Covid-19 safety survey. Singapore Changi Airport is the first.
