Covid-19: India registers 50,129 new cases, 578 deaths | India News


NEW DELHI: Covid-19 cases reported in India within 24 hours remained below 55,000 for the third day in a row, while new deaths recorded in one day fell to 578 after nearly three months, according to the data of the Ministry of Health of the Union updated on Sunday.
India’s number of Covid-19 cases rose to 78,64,811 with 50,129 new infections reported in one day, while the death toll rose to 1,18,534 with 578 new deaths, data updated at 8 a.m. showed.
Active cases stayed below seven lakhs for three days in a row, while the national recovery rate has risen to 90%.
There are 6,68,154 active cases of Covid-19 in the country to date, comprising 8.50 percent of total cases, according to the data.
A total of 70.78,123 people have recovered from the disease so far, bringing the national recovery rate to 90%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.51%.
India’s Covid-19 count had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, and 40 lakh on September 5.
It passed 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28, and crossed 70 lakh on October 11.
According to the ICMR, until October 24, a cumulative total of 10,25,23,469 samples have been analyzed and on Saturday 11,40,905 samples have been analyzed.
