NEW DELHI: India continued to keep active cases below 7 lakh per second day, while total recoveries exceeded 70 lakh. Active cases now comprise just 8.71 percent of the country’s total positive cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
According to an official statement, active cases in 6,80,680 were less than 7 lakh for the second day in a row.
Active cases are in continuous decline on a daily basis. This is the result of the successful TEST, TREAT and TRACK strategy of the Government of the Union implemented by the States / UT, affirmed the Ministry of Health.
The change in active cases in the States and Territories of the Union (UT) has been varied, indicating different stages in their fight against the pandemic.
The downward trend in active cases is complemented by the constant increase in the number of recovered cases. The total number of recovered cases has crossed the 70 lakh mark and stands at 70,16,046. The national recovery rate has further improved to 89.78%.
61% of the total recovered cases are from six states and Union territories (UT) of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
New recoveries have outpaced new cases in recent days. 67,549 COVID patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours while new confirmed cases amount to 53,370.
It is observed that 77% of the new recovered cases are concentrated in 10 States and UT. Maharashtra has contributed the most with over 13,000 recovery days.
Up to 53,370 new confirmed cases were registered in the last 24 hours. 80% of the new cases are from 10 States and UT.
Kerala is reporting the maximum addition with more than 8,000 cases followed by Maharashtra with more than 7,000 cases. 650 cases of death have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Of these, ten States and TU represent almost 80%. Maharashtra has reported a peak with 184 deaths.
