Dussehra (Vijayadashami) 2020 date, bidding times: Also known as ‘Vijayadashami’, Dussehra is one of the most important festivals in India marking the end of the nine-day Navratri holiday and the four- or five-day celebration of Durga Puja. It is also believed to have been the day Lord Rama defeated King Ravana and his army in a long battle between the forces of good and evil. It is for this very reason that the day is called Vijay Dashami (the day of victory). It is also the day that Goddess Durga clashed with Mahishasura’s army and killed the buffalo demon once and for all.

The tenth and final day of celebrations, Dussehra falls on October 25 this year, which is Sunday. In some places, it will also be celebrated on October 26.

According to Drik Panchang, the vijay muhurat It is between 1:58 p.m. and 2:43 p.m. on October 25, and for Dashami in West Bengal, Aparahna puja time is from 1:13 p.m. to 03:28 p.m. on October 26.

It should be noted that, although Dashami and Dusshera follow different rituals, they carry the same message: that of the victory of good over evil. Ramlila performances are also organized on this day, especially in the northern part of the country, during which effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakaran are burned, to represent the victory of good over evil. People represent the life and glory of the righteous Lord Rama through ballads and plays.

Furthermore, with heavy hearts, the idols of Durga and her sons Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya, Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Lakshmi are immersed. People wish a happy Dussehra or Shubho Bijoyaand look back to the year with nostalgia and anticipation of what will come next.
