Donald Trump just called India “disgusting”.
Well, more specifically, it called our air dirty.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday described the air in India and China as “dirty” when denouncing the plans of Democratic rival Joe Biden to tackle climate change. In his second and final presidential debate, Trump renewed his criticism that action on climate change was unfair to the United States.
“Look at China, how disgusting it is. Look at Russia, look at India, it’s disgusting. The air is disgusting,” Trump said at the debate in Nashville.
The comment also came moments after Donald Trump said he was not a racist. Trump also pulled the United States out of the Paris climate accord, which aims to limit global warming “well below” two degrees Celsius.
The irony of the comment aside, the comment didn’t fit very well with the desis on social media.
“Look at India, it’s DIRTY.” #Donald trump Only an arrogant racist with a dirty mind can speak of my country like that.

What is the end result of all those Modi visits to the US, of the hand that holds the photo shoots of extreme kindness with Donald, of the events of Howdy Modi and Namaste Trump, of all the commitments made by Modi in front of To USA.? How will the Indians tolerate this insult? pic.twitter.com/adbuZvwwxv

Some pointed out that Trump calling India ‘dirty’ was not wrong, indeed. In fact, the air quality in India is terrible and each winter brings with it a lower AQI.
There is no point criticizing Donald Trump’s comment that the air in India is disgusting, it is true, the ‘State of Global Air’ report for 2019 published a couple of days ago at https://t.co/16vWAv2uHT
