Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed his wishes to Interior Minister Amit Shah on his 56th birthday and thanked him for his contribution to the progress of the country.

His efforts to strengthen BJP are also noteworthy. May God bless him with a life long and healthy in service of India, “tweeted Prime Minister Modi.

Born in 1964 in Mumbai, Shah has been involved with the BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS since his youth.

In Gujarat, Shah served as Interior Minister in the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi when he was chief minister.

Since his appointment as the national head of the BJP in 2014, the year Prime Minister Modi came to power, Shah has been instrumental in leading the party to electoral victories in many states, including the Northeast region.

He was the head of the Uttar Pradesh BJP in 2014 and helped the party and its allies win 73 out of 80 seats in the general election.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Shah ran the BJP election campaign and campaigned at the same time. The party won 303 seats, the country’s first party since 1971 to return with a full majority.

Shah is a first-time deputy in Gandhinagar’s Lok Sabha and was included in the cabinet during the second term of the Modi government, after which he was appointed Union Minister of the Interior.
