According to the Bantwal Town inspector and investigating officer TD Nagaraj, a preliminary investigation suggested that he was beaten to death with lethal weapons. Police said Surendra had about 15 criminal cases against him. In 2018, the actor had been arrested for attacking two workers of the BJP party with a machete. A video of the assault has circulated widely on social media.
Almost a decade ago, he was identified as a right-wing activist, but during the last election, he was seen in the field of Congress. Sources said he was a moneylender. A person close to him is suspected of committing the murder. The police are also investigating his alleged participation in a party last night. As soon as the news about his murder spread, people gathered in large numbers near the apartment.
