The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday partially eased its previous order by declaring Durga Puja pandals as no-entry zones for the public to control the spread of Covid-19 during the holiday season.

The court dismissed a petition for review in its previous order by bid organizers, but allowed the assembly of 60 organizers within large pandals with only 45 allowed to be present at any given time. The petition for review had been submitted by the Durgotsav Forum, a coordinating organization of around 400 bid committees in Kolkata.
