NEW DELHI: The government is working on the next stimulus package to support the economy amid positive signs of a drop in Covid-19 cases, a senior Finance Ministry official said Wednesday.
The government has received suggestions from various ministries and sectors on the necessary measures, Tarun Bajajsaid the secretary of economic affairs of the finance ministry in a virtual conference.
Earlier this week, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said the government had not ruled out the possibility of another stimulus package to boost growth.

“I have not closed the option of another stimulus … Every time we have announced one, it has been after much consideration … I have not closed the option of raising another stimulus,” he had said at an event.
The government has started an exercise to assess the impact of the pandemic on the economy and the likely contraction of gross domestic product (GDP) and will soon present a projection, the finance minister said.
