Windows 10 is one of the oldest versions of Microsoft’s operating system. The latest version of Microsoft Windows receives major updates every two years with additional features and enhancements to the base version. The latest update of its kind for October 2020, which is called Windows 10 20H2, is rolling out now with some major changes in Windows 10. The new update brings features like a redesigned Start menu, a new option to adjust the refresh rate of a computer, a new touch-friendly task bar and changes to make notifications more visible. Plus, Microsoft Edge users will get new features like Collections and Price Comparison ahead of Black Friday and the holiday shopping season.
The most notable change in the new update is the new Start menu. While still very similar, the start menu will display theme-aware single-color tiles that adjust their color scheme according to the user-chosen theme. Windows 10 is finally moving away from Windows 8-like color tiles. The new Start menu is also designed to better suit Windows 10’s light and dark themes, which can be chosen in settings. Other changes include a new touch taskbar that moves icons to the bottom left of the screen. Windows 10 also removed the search / Cortana bar and replaced it in two separate search and Cortana buttons. Other than that, the Alt + Tab functionality to switch between apps is also getting a new design. Additionally, the new update also provides the ability to adjust a screen’s refresh rate, which can also be accessed in Settings.

The update will be released over the air in the next few weeks via Windows Update. Computers running Windows 10 version 1903 will receive this update next.
