2020 IPL points table and updated Orange Cap and Purple Cap list after Kings XI Punjab win over Delhi Capitals – cricket


Kings XI Punjab have recovered spectacularly after looking down and out in the first seven matches. They have now recorded victories over three top teams from the 2020 Indian Premier League in Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. On Tuesday, they defeated the DC table toppers by five wickets to move to fifth on the points table. KXIP now has four wins in 10 games and needs to be at its best in its remaining games to reach the playoffs.

DC continues to lead the standings despite the loss, having seven wins in 10 games and with a healthy NRR of +0.774.

On Monday, the Rajasthan Royals returned to the tally of an IPL playoff spot after defeating CSK by seven wickets at Sharjah Stadium. RR completely dominated the three-time IPL champions as they chased the target in just 17.3 overs with Jos Buttler scoring 70 runs from 48 balls. The victory caused a shakeup in the lower half of the points table. RR jumped from last position to sixth place with eight points in 10 games.

Meanwhile, CSK fell to last place as they have now lost seven games out of 10. MS Dhoni-led CSK now has a near impossible task to qualify for the 2020 IPL playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians remained in second position in the 2020 IPL points table with six wins from nine matches and a healthy NRR of +1,201.

KKR is fourth with ten points from nine games after a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad is in sixth place with six points.

Orange cap

KXIP captain KL Rahul continued to top the race list. He rules the roost and has the 2020 IPL orange cap so far with 540 runs at a phenomenal 67.50 average. Shikhar Dhawan jumped into second place after posting his second ton of trot against KXIP. He now has 465 runs with an average of 66.42.

Joining him is Mayank Agarwal (398 runs) in third, followed by Faf du Plessis with 375 runs. RCB captain Virat Kohli., Is in fifth position.

Purple cap

Kagiso Rabada improved her land count to 21 and is in possession of the Purple Cap. In the N. 2 is Mohammed Shami, who has brought his wicket tally to 16. MI’s Jasprit Bumrah is in third place with 15 wickets.
