Calcutta:
After BJP National Chairman Jagat Prakash Nadda accused the Mamata Banerjee government of a “divide and rule” policy during his public address in Siliguri on Monday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien issued a public statement on Twitter saying that the BJP did everything possible to “divide and conquer” India in more than six years of its rule.
“The irony is not lost when the BJP president speaks of ” divide and conquer. ” ” Divide and conquer ” is a ploy learned from the colonial past and tortuously executed every day by your party. Six years, his party had done everything possible to “divide and rule” the people of this great nation, “Derek O”Brien said in a statement, addressed to Mr. Nadda.
He said his party did a data check on Nadda’s last public speech in the state and found “huge holes” in it.

“Also, we did a #FactCheck of his speech today. Like his other two ” senior ” colleagues, there were big holes in it. But no, we will not desecrate this auspicious occasion,” he said calling at Durga time. Bid as the “auspicious occasion.”
The TMC MP said that Durga Puja is special for the people of West Bengal and is not the occasion for politics.
Earlier on Monday, Mr. Nadda, while addressing a meeting in Siliguri, said: “The current TMC government in West Bengal has employed a divide and rule policy and only Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the ability to lead everyone and grow together. “
