Aamir Khan is also a fan of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and is celebrating his 25th anniversary with the rest of the world. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to share the movie’s most perfect synopsis.
“A hero who discovers her conscience, a heroine who finds her voice, a villain who has changed her mind, DDLJ appealed to the kindest, kindest and highest self within all of us. 25 years of a film that continues to enchant the world. Thank you Adi, Kajol, Shahrukh and the entire DDLJ team, ”Aamir wrote in his tweet. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol at the helm. It was launched in 1995 and was still running at Mumbai Maratha Mandir until closing.
Earlier in the day, Shah Rukh and Kajol celebrated the cult classic’s silver wedding anniversary by changing their profile picture to Raj and Simran, the characters they rehearsed in the film. Written and directed by newcomer Aditya Chopra, DDLJ broke all box office records and is one of the biggest box office hits of all time in the history of Hindi cinema.
DDLJ is also the winner of a record (at the time) 10 Filmfare Awards and the movie literally changed the face of Bollywood globally. “I think ‘DDLJ’ is timeless because everyone identifies with Simran and Raj at some point. I think they really like these characters! They’ve liked them for years and years and it’s one of those things that you always like and will probably always like, ”Kajol said in a statement shared by production banner Yash Raj Films (YRF).
