The iPhone 12 may not support 5G in dual SIM mode right out of the box. The alleged discrepancy was first highlighted on Reddit over the weekend, after which an internal Apple training document posted by a user in the discussion appears to have confirmed the issue. Apple first introduced dual SIM functionality to its iPhones with the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max released in 2018. And the latest iPhone 12 models (iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro were released. Max). on October 14 they come with dual-SIM support, a physical Nano-SIM, and an eSIM, along with 5G support.
“When using two lines in Dual SIM mode, 5G data is not supported on either line and will revert to 4G LTE. If customers only use an eSIM and have a 5G-compatible operator and service plan, they will have access to 5G, ”reads the alleged training document that, according to the poster on Reddit, comes from the sales web resources from Apple. Which means that a user will have to disable 5G on the physical SIM or on the eSim to get 5G speeds on the new phone.
Mac Rumors first saw the discussion and writes that he has independently confirmed the authenticity of the document.
In subsequent responses to the original Reddit post, another user claiming to have accessed Verizon’s training docs says the iPhone 12 5G dual SIM support issue will be fixed with a software update later this year. . It was not immediately clear if all iPhone 12 models will ship with this issue intact. Apple has yet to comment on the problem or its fix.
