Chirag Paswan’s LJP to Fight for 137 Seats and Releases Third List of Candidates

One day when LJP chief Chirag Paswan performed the ‘rasam pagri’ rituals for his father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, who passed away on October 8 in New Delhi, the party published the third and final list of 42 candidates for the Bihar assembly in three phases. election, starting October 28.

The third list brings to 137 the total number of candidates for the LJP, which this time is fighting independently. He had previously published two lists of 53 and 42 candidates on October 16 and 8, respectively. On Wednesday, the LJP will also publish its vision document ‘Bihar 1st, Bihari 1st’.

At the ‘rasam pagri’ ceremony, Prime Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav also came to pay tribute to the veteran socialist leader despite his hectic election campaign.

Both leaders sat on either side of Chirag Paswan to present a different picture away from the political battlefield. Several other political leaders crossing party lines also visited to pay tribute to the leader.

LJP leaders said there were also some links beyond politics and nothing should be read between the lines.

Once again, several former BJP leaders, though not the prominent names, have found a place on the LJP list, reflecting the party’s focus on the upper caste and Dalits in ticket distribution. The LJP has also given opportunities to leaders of committed parties, as well as those of other parties. With seven more women on the third list, the total number of candidates is now 23.

Abdur Razaak, who was at RJD, has been selected by Mahishi’s party. Former Congress leader Abhash Kumar Jha, who competed from the Sarairanjan seat in 2010 and finished third, also received a ticket from the LJP.

From the Gayaghat seat, the party has sent Komal Singh, daughter of MP Veena Devi and JD-U MLC Dinesh Prasad Singh. Veena Singh had defeated the late former trade union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh in 2019. She had also represented Gaaighat’s seat in the Bihar assembly.

LJP spokesperson Vikas Mishra, whose name is also on Harlakhi’s Madhubani seat list, said the party’s only approach was to win as many seats as possible.

“The position of our party boss, Chirag Paswan, has been clear and the distribution of tickets is clearly in line with the party’s winning line to help install a government that can function with the vision of ‘Bihar 1st, Bihari 1st ‘”He added.
